Take your weaving to the next level.

In Weaving 2 we go in-depth into: Colour and Weave, Twill, Waffle Weave and All About Weaving Yarn

We build upon the fundamentals you learned in Weaving 1 and introduce the foundational weave structure of Twill. Each section includes hands-on projects that allow you to see (and touch!) how everything comes together. By the end of this course you'll be off altering patterns to fit the projects you dream up!

Meet the Instructors

Kim McCollum

Kim McCollum is a visual artist working in textiles. Kim has taught over 1000 new weavers in person and online, specializing in contemporary artistic approaches. Her love of textiles has taken her to India, Morocco, and throughout Canada and the United States to study. Kim has a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta, is a graduate of Olds College Master Weaver program and is a co-Owner of Gather Textiles. “I weave because I feel connected to generations of weavers before me, because weaving feels like a quiet resistance to mass production, and because I’m addicted to the tactile process and rhythm of working at the loom.”

Jamie Hurlburt

Jamie has been teaching at Gather Textiles since shortly after it opened. After starting with rigid heddle looms, they now teach beginner and advanced four-shaft classes. Jamie is a self-proclaimed “weaving nerd” who loves going on deep dives into structures, patterns, and the history of handweaving. They’ve turned their obsessive love of weaving into an online lecture series for Gather covering everything from crackle to fibre to sectional beaming. They are passionate about welcoming new weavers to the craft and bringing weaving into community spaces. Jamie sells their work at the Alberta Craft Council and posts on Instagram as @booj.wovens.
